Tier C — Electric / cordless cultivator Japan Est. 1943

Ryobi

Part of the 18V ONE+ ecosystem, with separate 40V and 80V battery systems alongside it, and both battery and petrol tiller lines, convenient if you already own ONE+ tools.

Ryobi Limited, the ONE+ platform and battery cultivators

Ryobi Limited was established on 16 December 1943 and began manufacturing power tools in 1968. In 2001 it sold its power tools business in Europe.

Today the Ryobi 18V ONE+ battery platform is maintained by Techtronic Industries, which says compatibility on the platform dates back to 1996. Ryobi outdoor power equipment also includes 40V and 80V battery systems for lawn and garden care. The Ryobi cultivator we list is the 18V ONE+ Cultivator OCT1825.

For a buyer, the battery platform matters more than the company history. An 18V ONE+ cultivator makes most sense if you already own ONE+ batteries and a charger, because the tool then adds to kit you have. If your Ryobi garden tools run on the 40V or 80V systems instead, check which battery a cultivator takes before you buy, since these are different battery systems. Without any Ryobi batteries, add the cost of a battery and charger to the price before comparing it with other cultivators. On a used machine, ask whether a battery is included and how old it is.
