How we research & verify

TractoMate is an independent guide, researched and maintained by our editorial team. We don't sell machines, hold stock, or take a cut of any sale. This page explains exactly how we put the catalogue together — and where the limits of our knowledge are.

Who writes this

TractoMate is published by a small editorial team rather than under a single named byline. We're enthusiasts and smallholders, not a manufacturer or a dealer. We deliberately don't invent expert personas or claim hands-on testing we haven't done — where we haven't run a machine ourselves, we say so plainly rather than dressing up desk research as a field test.

How we verify specifications

Every specification we publish — engine, power, working width, weight, transmission — is checked against the manufacturer's own data: official datasheets, product pages, and the machine's own decals and model plates where we can read them from verified photos. When sources disagree, or a figure varies by configuration (common on professional two-wheel tractors and older heritage machines), we flag the page as pending verification rather than presenting a single number as certain.

How we handle photos

We only publish a photo once we've confirmed it shows the exact model on the page. Where we couldn't confirm an image depicts the correct machine, we removed it rather than risk misleading you — a machine page with no photo is more honest than one with the wrong photo.

How we estimate prices

Prices are indicative ranges drawn from observed market listings, dealer quotes, used-market sales or — for grey imports — estimated landed cost. We show a single mid-range figure as a guide. These are estimates, not live quotes: always confirm the current price with the seller before you buy.

What we don't do

How we're funded

TractoMate earns from display advertising and from connecting readers with dealers and importers. None of that changes our recommendations — see the advertising & disclosure page for the detail.

Found something wrong?

Spotted an out-of-date spec or price, or a photo that looks off? Tell us and we'll fix it. Get in touch — corrections from owners and dealers are exactly how this catalogue improves.
